This page sets out the playing rules for the USSSA National All State Championship (the "Event" or "NAS") and the participant waiver that every parent or legal guardian agrees to on behalf of their player at registration. The Event is operated by UBN — Unrivaled Baseball Network under the USSSA National All State banner.

The "Rules & Waiver" checkbox on the registration form refers to this page. By completing registration you confirm that you have read and accepted both the playing rules and the waiver below. This page should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.

1.Governing Rules

The National All State Championship is played under the official USSSA Baseball playing rules in effect for the current season, as published by the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA), except where those rules are modified for this Event as described on this page or as announced by the Tournament Director.

The current USSSA Baseball rulebook is the controlling reference for all matters of play not addressed here — including pitching, base running, substitutions, run rules, time limits, and scoring. Participants and coaches are responsible for being familiar with the USSSA rules applicable to their division.

Where this page and the USSSA rulebook differ, the Event-specific provisions on this page and any written instructions issued by the Tournament Director control for purposes of this Event.

2.Event Format & Game Play

The Event is held in Lafayette, Louisiana from July 28 through August 2, 2026. Registered players are placed on teams and play a schedule of pool and/or bracket games as determined by the Tournament Director.

Each registered player is provided a five-game guarantee. The guarantee refers to scheduled pool and bracket play and may be affected by weather, facility conditions, forfeits, or other circumstances outside our control, as described in Section 7 and in our Terms & Conditions.

Game length, run-ahead ("mercy") rules, time limits, tie-breaker procedures, seeding, and bracket structure follow USSSA Baseball rules as adjusted for this Event. The official game schedule, pairings, and any format details are published by the Tournament Director and are final.

3.Age Divisions & Eligibility

Players compete in the age division corresponding to the player's age, determined under USSSA Baseball age-determination rules. The age group and division entered at registration must be accurate; the Tournament Director may reassign or decline a player whose age or eligibility cannot be verified.

Classification (AA / Open)

Teams are fielded at the AA or Open classification. The following Event rules apply to classification:

  • A player classified AA may play on an Open team without restriction.
  • An AA team may carry up to three (3) Open-classified players.
  • If an AA team carries four (4) or more Open-classified players, the team is moved up to the Open division.

The Tournament Director makes the final determination on all classification and division questions.

4.Rosters & Lineups

Rosters are built and finalized by Event staff, state directors, and coaches. A player must be a registered, paid participant and must appear on the official team roster to take the field. A player may be rostered to only one team for the Event.

Batting orders, defensive positions, and substitution and re-entry procedures follow USSSA Baseball rules for the division. Coaches are responsible for submitting an accurate lineup to the official scorekeeper before each game.

An ineligible player in a game — for example, a player not on the official roster or not properly registered — may result in forfeiture as provided in the USSSA rules and at the discretion of the Tournament Director.

5.Equipment & Bats

All bats, helmets, catcher's gear, and other equipment must comply with current USSSA Baseball equipment standards for the player's division. Bats must carry a valid USSSA certification mark appropriate to the division; non-compliant bats are not permitted in play.

Metal cleats are permitted only where allowed by USSSA rules and facility policy for the division. Players are responsible for supplying their own personal protective equipment and for ensuring it meets the applicable standard.

Note: If you are unsure whether a bat or piece of equipment is legal for your player's division, confirm with the Tournament Director before the Event. Equipment found non-compliant during a game is removed from play.

6.Conduct & Ejections

The Event is a family environment that celebrates youth baseball. Players, coaches, parents, guardians, and guests are expected to display good sportsmanship and to treat players, coaches, umpires, staff, volunteers, and other guests with respect at all times.

Unsportsmanlike conduct — including abusive, threatening, harassing, or discriminatory language or behavior; physical altercations; or failure to follow the instructions of umpires, Event staff, or facility personnel — may result in warning, ejection, suspension, or removal from the Event. Ejections and suspensions are governed by USSSA rules and by the discretion of the umpires and the Tournament Director.

Removal or ejection for a conduct violation does not entitle any participant or guest to a refund. The full Code of Conduct is set out in our Terms & Conditions.

7.Weather, Delays & Field Conditions

Games may be delayed, shortened, suspended, rescheduled, relocated, or cancelled because of weather, lightning, darkness, field conditions, or other circumstances affecting safety or playability. The Tournament Director, in coordination with umpires and facility staff, makes all such decisions, and those decisions are final.

USSSA rules govern when a game is considered official or complete. The Event will make reasonable efforts to complete the schedule, but weather-related changes do not alter the No Refund Policy described in our Terms & Conditions.

8.Umpires & Protests

Games are officiated by assigned umpires. Judgment calls by umpires are final and are not subject to protest. Protests are limited to matters of rule misapplication or player eligibility and must be raised in the manner and within the time limits set by USSSA rules and the Tournament Director.

The Tournament Director has final authority to rule on protests and on any situation not specifically covered by the USSSA rulebook or this page.

9.Rule Changes

Any changes or clarifications to these rules will be communicated before the Event by the Tournament Director. Updates may be sent by email, posted on the website, or shared at the coaches' meeting. The rules, format, and schedule in effect for the Event are those announced by the Tournament Director, whose decisions on all rules matters are final.

Coaches and parents are responsible for reviewing communications from the Tournament Director before and during the Event so they are aware of the current rules and schedule.

Part Two — Participant Waiver

10.Assumption of Risk

Baseball and related activities — including practice, warm-up, competition, travel to and from venues, and time spent at Event facilities — involve inherent and other risks that cannot be eliminated. These risks include, without limitation, the risk of serious bodily injury, permanent disability, or death; contact with balls, bats, equipment, fences, and other players; falls; overexertion; heat-related illness; exposure to weather; and the actions or inactions of other participants, spectators, or facility conditions.

By registering a player and participating in the Event, the parent or legal guardian — on behalf of themselves and the registered player — knowingly, voluntarily, and freely accepts and assumes all such risks, both known and unknown, and accepts full responsibility for any resulting injury, illness, loss, or damage. The parent or legal guardian confirms that the player is in good health and physically fit to participate.

11.Release & Waiver of Liability

In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Event, the parent or legal guardian, on behalf of themselves, the registered player, and their heirs and representatives, agrees to the following to the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Release. They release, waive, and discharge UBN — Unrivaled Baseball Network, USSSA, the National All State Championship, and their respective directors, officers, employees, volunteers, umpires, coaches, sponsors, and host facilities and facility partners (together, the "Released Parties") from any and all claims, liabilities, demands, damages, and causes of action arising out of or related to participation in the Event, including any injury, illness, or loss of or damage to property.
  • Covenant not to sue. They agree not to bring any claim or suit against the Released Parties for any such loss or injury.
  • Indemnification. They agree to indemnify and hold the Released Parties harmless from any claim brought by or on behalf of the participant arising out of participation in the Event.

This release does not apply to liability arising from the gross negligence or willful misconduct of a Released Party. If any part of this release is held unenforceable, the remainder stays in full effect. This waiver is also subject to the Limitation of Liability in our Terms & Conditions.

12.Medical Authorization

In the event of injury or illness during the Event, and if the parent or legal guardian cannot be reached, the parent or legal guardian authorizes Event staff to arrange first aid and emergency medical care for the player, including transport to a medical facility. Any cost of medical treatment is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian.

Maintaining appropriate health, accident, and medical insurance for the player is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian. The Released Parties do not provide medical insurance for participants.

13.Acknowledgement

By checking the "Rules & Waiver" box at registration, the parent or legal guardian confirms that they have read and understood this entire page, that they are at least 18 years of age and have authority to agree on the player's behalf, and that they accept the playing rules and the assumption of risk, release, waiver, and medical authorization above for both themselves and the registered player — freely and without inducement.
